Tuesday Tidbits

I must apologize! I didn’t provide an update on my “procedure”. All was good – and they don’t believe the endo has traveled into my bowel – yeah! And like some of you shared, the procedure is really nothing. The prep is quite uncomfortable, but that is the worst of it.  They put you under, you wake up less than half an hour later and you can’t tell anything has happened.  So if you have to have one – don’t fret. Just drink the juice and rest for a few days. So now on to laser lap #4 on June 21.

Alex has been providing a lot of random hugs recently – that makes my heart swell.  Often the hugs come when we are playing mini sticks. If I score a goal on him, he runs to me, cheering, and then gives me a big hug.

It’s started. Holes have started to appear in the knees of Alex’s pants.  He is often quit rough playing hockey, taking dives etc; and he likes to play football, wrestle and the like, causing the knees to wear out of his pants.  3 pairs in the last month.  I need to go get some patches I think…

Alex is also displaying some real signs of being an only child.  He is being bossy and demanding – we are working on it.

I’m reading “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” by Stephenie Meyer – it’s the novella that goes with the Twilight books.  Not too bad. I finished reading the Art of Racing in the Rain – a great read – emotional, but not really about the dog passing (don’t worry – its in the first chapter so I’m not spoiling anything), I didn’t end up reading We Need to Talk About Kevin… it wasn’t the writing style that I like.

Yesterday I finished Season 1 of Downton Abbey. You are all so right – highly addictive. Such a good show. The only problem is that I’m #18 on the hold list for Season 2… that’s probably a 2 month wait. Think I’ll be visiting the rental store this weekend.  I also watched Life in a Day – the video made up of videos from around the world all filmed on July 24, 2010.  How amazing! I laughed, cried, cringed… but was overall moved by the simplicity of the film and the message about how even though your day may not seem like anything important is going on it really is making an impact.

And for those who are in love with food tucks… on May 6 there is a Food Truck event in Stratford!!  If you are interested in information on the festival let me know – or search Savour Stratford Food Trucks on Facebook.

Our Boy

Normally I think of Alex as a real “boy boy”. He loves hockey, football, superheros, wrestling, fishing, police cars, firefighters – you know – traditional “boy” stuff.

But this morning, we discovered that Alex also likes to be like his momma.

Not that I hang out under the sink...

Tuesday Tidbits

  • The weather here is back to being traditional spring after an extreme warm spell in mid March. The forecast was looking really nice today (high of 14), so I sent Alex to the sitters with a hoodie and a lined spring coat – but it is pretty dismal outside now – and not nice and sunny as expected. I hope he is warm enough #mommyfail
  • I’m at home prepping for my colonoscopy tomorrow. I haven’t been able to ingest anything but clear fluids since yesterday at 6am. Let’s just say this sucks. I am dreaming of my post procedure meal… all day long.  I understand being on a liquid diet for 24 hours before… but this is crazy!
  • Since I’m at home with lots of time on my hands, I’m watching Breaking Dawn Part 1… for the 3rd time. I don’t care what anyone says – this series rocks.
  • I played around with my book lineup – I ended up reading I’ve Got Your Number first [fantastic!!], now I’m reading The Art of Racing in the Rain… next will be We Have to Talk About Kevin.
  • I saw the Hunger Games a week or so ago – FANTASTIC! Really lived up to the book – which is so hard to do.
  • I’m planning Alex’s 4th birthday party! Superhero themed, planning on making capes, magic wands, and maybe masks.  Don’t know when I’ll do it all… I really should have bought fabric and did it today. A will be 4 in less than a month – amazing.
  • Alex is having fun calling Matt “Matthew” 🙂
  • Last Thursday I had the day off so I kept Alex from the sitters and we had a date at the Butterfly Conservatory in Cambridge. We had a lot of fun – we saw butterflies, birds, ladybugs, turtles, and even a butterfly climb out of it’s cocoon! And the funny thing was that when we first walked in I saw a cute little Korean boy about Alex’s age walk by. I couldn’t see the mom from the front – but did a while later – and it was the mom who came to talk to us at AdopTalk back in October 2008!  Small world.   After we went to McDonalds and we then did a little shopping.
  • On Saturday I took Alex on a horse drawn carriage ride around downtown Stratford. I could not believe how much I didn’t know about our small town. Alex was a trooper – 1 hour+ waiting… and I rewarded him with a chocolate milk shake.
  • I’ve been having fun participating in my friend Kerryanne’s photo a day for April blog. I wish I had done it every day… but I did not too badly. Check out the amazing pictures from around the world.
