When you wish upon a star…

… your dreams can come true.  And ours certainly did.

One year ago today we met our son.  It still seems surreal that we travelled around the world and were blessed to be able to bring home the most amazing and beautiful little boy.   This year has been the best year ever (although I really could have done without teething and H1N1).  We have learned so much – and it is amazing how much love you can have for someone.  I can’t wait to watch Alex grow into a young man… I know it will happen in a blink of an eye – and that saddens me, but it also reminds me to enjoy every second we have with Alex because he truly is a wish come true.

Here’s a little video I put together of our trip to Seoul, meeting Alex, our Forever Family Day, and then our trip home.  I hope you like it.

  2. Wow, I got teary eyed when the music started and I was bawling by the end. I love the video clip when Alex is in the carrier and his foster mom gives you both a hug. It is a wonderful video, Krista!!

  3. I LOVE the video, Krista! It brings back so many good memories of our trip, and I am admittedly crying here. Honestly, it’s kind of hitting me hard that we probably won’t be adopting again…and it was such a wonderful experience. I’ve been thinking a lot about it lately. Like I’ve said, I’ll have to live vicariously through you guys 🙂 Oh – and Alex was so little! One year makes such a difference, doesn’t it? We were out buying D some more 2T clothes today, because he just won’t stop growing!

  4. Krista, what a beautiful video! I am glad I was prepared with tissues before I started watching it. Happy one year as a forever family! Alex was so little a year ago. Boy, has he changed! Thank you for sharing this with us. It brought back so many memories for me as well.

  5. Beautiful! It was memory after memory for me. I am still awed by the experience of your bonding, by seeing Seoul, meeting Mrs.Han & so many many more. Thank you both again for letting me join you. -& if nothing else I am so glad to have manned the camera & got those first family/bonding shots.

  6. Wow! What a beautiful video. And yep, my eyes are now all filled with tears too! ( great song choice…I just love Iz! 🙂 So many touching moments and pure joy on your faces.
    Happy one year!!!

  7. awesome, krista. i love the part where he is holding/squeezing your necklace at your first meeting. AND when his f.m. says good bye to both of you… fantastic! one year already?! ohmygosh.

    • You know what is cute? Today I have the same necklace on, and Alex started playing with it again – I think he was remembering it from watching the movie this weekend. Such a cutie.

  8. Oh Krista, what a beautiful video!! I’m all teary (there may have been a dramatic sob or two when the FM hugged you and Alex as well) I vividly remember your trip over there (as I was living vicariously through you) so it’s a little hard to believe it’s been a year! Wow.

    Happy Family Day!!!

  9. Krista! That was fantastic!!! My favorite parts, though, were the video when FM hugged you holding Alex and when the three of you were lying on the bed and Matt was tickling Alex and you were just gazing at Alex with the biggest grin on your face. Love it.
    Happy day, you three!

  10. So, so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing! The choice of song is perfect (that version gets me every time) and I, like many of the others, found the hug by his FM to be particularly moving. She wasn’t just hugging him, she was hugging both of you. So sweet and touching. Happy Family Day!

  11. Krista, we don’t know each other too too well, but I was honoured to watch that video. I too loved the part where Alex was playing with your necklace and I loved the look in your eyes on the bus and he was sleeping on your chest. Children are a gift.

  12. Ahhhh Krista. I’m blubbering away here. My kids don’t understand tears of joy yet, and thought something was wrong with me! LOL
Nothing wrong….just incredibly happy for my friends Krista & Matt and their beautiful baby boy. Thanks for sharing the video. Beautiful!

  13. You know how we all say that pictures never do justice, to the moment we are trying to capture by camera??!! Well, I must say, that you really have captured the moments. I can’t believe how your emotions come through so strong- usually one cannot caputre that! Unbelievable! Those moments of yours, remind me of many of our moments and how we felt in those particular times. That was just beautiful!
