Yesterday Alex and I went to Beamsville to meet up with 3 other adoptive moms and their boys – all adopted from South Korea within the last 7 months. It was so much fun! The drive there… not so much – traffic due to construction and Alex cried half the way, but once we got to Belinda’s home everything was great. The 4 of us had met online with thanks to our agency’s Korean adoption listserv and have communicated for almost a year – and since we all live within 2 hours of one another, is it relatively easy to get together. The boys seemed to play very well and they all have so many similarities, but still are quite different. Barbara’s boy Daniel is only 3 days younger than Alex so it was cute to see them together! Lucus, Karen’s son, and Adam, Belinda’s boy are both walking – they are each just over 1 year old… so any day for Daniel and Alex!
We had a very tasty lunch – soup, salads, hummus, crackers, fruit, cookies… and the boys love it all too! After lunch we went for a long walk – although it didn’t seem that long since we were all talking so much! It is amazing how much we already know about one another – I guess with all of the similar experriences… We hope to have many more get togethers, perhaps even including our hubbies 🙂
When we got back, I was surprised to find out it was already 3pm – I had to get on the road to bypass the rush hour traffic on the 401, so we had to leave.
So Thanks Girls! Alex and I loved our play date and hope to arrange another one soon!
P.S. My hair apt was great! Wendy can really work her magic – perhaps I will get a picture up this weekend.
