Yesterday my friend Cathy and I took our boys to a small splash pad in St. Marys, a small town just south of Stratford. A class showed up and took over just as we arrived so we went to a small park to waste some time until they would be gone. The park was meant for small kids – but the slides were all metal and it was HOT out – so the slides were lethal! 30 minutes later we went back to the splash pad and it was clear for the little guys to run around and have fun. Alex LOVED it, Blair wasn’t too sure… After we had a little picnic under the trees. It was a really nice morning.

Every year Matt’s extended family throws a father’s day bbq and golf game for the guys and this year it was held in Bayfield – a little village on Lake Huron. Matt’s Grandma has a cottage just off the bluff and you can see the lake – it is just lovely there. When we left home the sun was out, the day was hot – but as we got closer to the lake it was cooler and overcast – and we really didn’t dress for that! It was a very nice get together – we had sausage on a bun, salads, and just socialized until the guys went golfing. I took Alex for a nice long stroller ride hoping he would nap – but nope – he only slept for about 45 minutes on the drive to the cottage. By the time we left at 7pm, he was walking in his sleep! I did go down to the beach with Alex and Matt’s brother Andrew and his family. It was Alex’s first time on the beach – quite fitting for the first day of summer I think. There are ALOT of stairs going down to the water from the beach access, so luckily I have been hitting the gym and trying to jog a couple of times a week because carrying a 24lb little guy up and down is a real workout!

Today Alex and I joined a few of my girlfriends and their little ones at a small Strawberry Festival at Megans Berry Farm just outside of Stratford. At first it wasn’t looking very promising – LOTS and LOTS of rain this morning, but we went out anyhow and it was great fun. There were some local food vendors, a country band, ice cream, pork burgers, and of course strawberries! We kinda took the space over for a while – because of the rain the morning, attendance was pretty poor – but that just more room for our little ones to run around and dance. I bought some of the local produce – strawberry jam, asparagus, and…. strawberries! Yummm!

Notice the stawberry smoothie on Alex's upper lip!

A few days ago I finished Twilight - and LOVED it!! I am now addicted as some of you predicted – New Moon is one of the items on my nightstand.
Other books on the go:
Babyville by Jane Green (for my book club)
For the longest time I didn’t want to read “baby” focused chick lit because I was dealing with the issues of infertility and found it too difficult to read about the joys (agony) of pregnancy, childbirth, etc. I thought this book was going to be like that from the title – but so far Julia, the main character is dealing with the exact same emotions and reactions to difficulty conceiving that I was dealing with – and it is kinda nice for a change! I am a big Jane Green fan and can’t wait to read more of it.
Informers by Bret Easton Ellis
I enjoy a twisted book once and a while and hope this one does the trick.
Firefly Lane by Kristen Hannah
I heard from a fellow reader that this books is supposed to be VERY GOOD so I’ve added it to my collection for the next little while. I have not read this author yet, but I know from working in the library that her books are super popular.
The Dead Room by Heather Graham
I need a little mystery to help round out my reading collection so this one should be good – I like my mysteries to include a little romance….

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to go to a concert at the Starlight in Waterloo to see Danny Michel perform. My supervisor and friend Wendy invited 20 of her closest friends and fellow Danny fans to go to the concert to help celebrate her birthday – and I was lucky enough to be one of the selected few.
My favourite part of the show was the impromptu performance of White Lightening followed by the Batman theme song
I did try to take a picture with my cell, but it was so dark it didn’t come through very well…
If you haven’t heard of him give him a try – he is so much fun! Very groovy guitar and really fun lyrics.
Thank You Wendy!! Loved the show!
the video link above was from a different show – not the one last night…

We also set up the sprinkler for Alex since he was quite warm and we don’t have a baby pool yet – he absolutely loved it – not that you can tell from the below picture (please disregard my red neck appearance – especially the bra hanging out – who let me out of the house looking like that??).

The cutest thing was that I would run through the sprinkler – then Alex would follow me. Then he would push me to go again – and he would once again follow – giggling all the way. Such a sweetie!
I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday too! Off now to watch The Wrestler… I hope it is as good as the reviews were!
